24h of Le Mans

As we revealed recently, at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the U.S. equivalent of Le Mans, rather than the exceptionally pursued (and sold out) ceramic model Rolex introduced the Ref. 116503 in stainless steel and yellow gold. The #2 Porsche 919 Hybrid that took the checkered banner is probably going to be the last Le Mans LMP1 (top class model and quickest) vehicle handled by the renowned German marque, which has supposedly chosen to become complacent – and save an expected $500 million every year – by halting the program.

A Few Competitors

Porsche will in any case compete in the LM GTE Pro and Am (Professional and Amateur) classes with creation based vehicles like the fiendish 911 RSR with a coordinating watch rather than super expensive models, however this year they surrendered triumph to their competitors. In the LM GTE Pro class the #97 Aston Martin Vantage beat down the #67 Ford GT40, which had been expected to win after a milestone triumph at Daytona. Furthermore, in the LM GTE Am class, Ferrari reasserted its strength over both Aston Martin and Porsche, with the #84 Ferrari 488 GTE thundering up from seventh spot to take the success. In the LMP2 class a French-fabricated Oreca 07 model guaranteed a triumph for the host group. The triumphant three-man groups of every one of the four classes were granted an engraved Ref. 116500 Daytona. This makes 12 watches introduced by Rolex in all – and no uncertainty 12 additional puts on the earthenware bezel’s excellence’s hanging tight rundown for ordinary customers.

A Heart Felt Victory

Rolex scored a PR overthrow this year as Mark Webber, one of its representatives, or Testimonees in Rolex speech, directed the race as Grand Marshall and gave the victors their desirable Daytona watches. Webber, the Le Mans champion for Porsche in 2015, had the pleasure to introduce the prize and top-class winning watches to his previous colleagues. “This is a second I will recall for the remainder of my life,” one of the triumphant Porsche drivers, Brendon Hartley said at the passionate function. “You can’t compose stories like that. It feels incredible to dominate the race and the watch – it is saturated with history simply like the 24 Hour of Le Mans. Having hustled in both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, I’ve generally longed for winning this watch.” What a surprising comeback from Porsche from seventh to first . At times dreams do come valid… .
